The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, through the National Beekeeping Sector Development Programme, has provided specialized training to carpenters in Tabora Region on the construction of modern beehives for beekeeping.

The initiative aims to increase the production of high-quality honey while improving the income of beekeepers.

Officially opening the training for 30 carpenters drawn from five districts in Tabora and Singida regions, the Principal of the Tabora Beekeeping Training Institute, Semu Daudi, said the main objective is to equip carpenters with skills to produce quality beehives that easily attract bees to occupy and remain in them. He added that the training also emphasizes the use of locally available raw materials to reduce production costs.

He further noted that the training is being conducted alongside training for beekeeper groups from various districts, a move expected to strengthen collaboration between carpenters and beekeepers.

“The Ministry’s expectation is to see stronger linkages between you and beekeeping groups, so that we can obtain high-quality honey in large quantities while also promoting environmental conservation,” said Semu.
